Word family of Ft. Smith - Griffith mention(s)..?
In Response To: Word family of Ft. Smith ()

Hi Marian -

thanks for posting your ancestor's letters online!!!! I was not able to find any mention of my GRIFFITH ancestors during my initial search of the letters.

My gg-gf, Samuel Acass "Cass" Griffith owned considerable land/slaves near Greenwood, Sebastian County. I am certain he had a large amount of interactions with Ft. Smith merchants circa 1859-1862 before he left for SW Arkansas/Sevier County.

If you find any mention of him or his family in your documents, I would very greatly appreciate hearing about it?

His oldest son, John Griffith, was the Lt.-Col/Col. of the 17th Ark. Inf. and later the Col. of the 11th/17th Ark. Inf.

thanks for your posting!!!
