That is unfortunate. There seems to be so much more detailed information available now, because of the internet, than was available to Cal Collier in his day.

Mr. Collier did do an excellant job for what he had. And his book as you said is a good primer for a person just getting interested in such things. But, just an examination of the service records of the 2373 men, that the National Parks Service Civil War Soldiers and Sailor Systems lists as being members of the 3rd Arkansas Infantry, should provide some interesting additional details. You could probably write a book just about those service records as I have seen done with other regiments.

It might not be "light reading" but as you said, it would be my kind of book.
