Re: 2nd ARK Cavalry Company I ???

Thanks Brian

Researching the defence of the Lower Arkansas and White River from June 1862 to August 1863, has turned up some very interesting facets of the War in Arkansas, which involved almost 1/3 of all the confederate troops in Arkansas. It is certainly an area that has been grossly overlooked and underestimated in previous writings.

I, like you, have a large "to do" list, And I appreciate your aid and suggestions. The operations along the Pine Bluff-Monticello to Monroe-Vicksburg supply line would suggest a larger co-operation between the Arkansas and Louisiana troops than we have previously imagined. An Example, for some reason Missouri Troops from Pine Bluff in June of 1863 marched 70 miles down the Bayou Bartholmew towards Louisiana appearently to counter a Union effort to use the Barthomew seemingly to bring their boats up it.

But again as you say these are some of the things that are "hinted at" and needs more research, but I don't at present have the resources, which includes the time to do it..

again Thanks.
