This past summer, I was able to find and visit Chalk Bluffs. While there, I visited with an older man who informed that in his youth the bluffs were indeed more of a chalk in appearance. Today, the bluffs are covered with trees...my question, is today's appearance of the battlefield consistent with the 1860s, or were the bluffs more visible then? I know that any opinon will be a guess, but am interested in the response of others.
