John W. Cox, died North of Little Rock

After years of searching, I found my great great grandfather. He was apparently killed in the War of Northern Agression, early in the war, north of Little Rock. He lived in the Bayou Meto area of Arkansas (North of Little Rock) (Mineral Division Township) according to the eghteen sixty census. I need to verify this service and/or death. Does anyone have any idea where I can start to find a record of his death or his burial plot, or some other record of his service to CSA? His name is John W. Cox, he was born in 1830 probably in Georgia. He moved to Arkansas in about 1855. He was married to Almarinda Susan Johnson Cox in 1848. After he was killed, his wife and sons moved to Rome Georgia where Sherman burned their home to the ground. Later they were "taken" to Ohio as "refugees." My great grandfather was later "bound out" to a person in Richmond, Kentucky and at about 15 years of age he ran off to Indianapolis, Indiana and joined the Army under an assumed name, John O'Kief. He served in the Indian Wars campaigns with the 22nd Regiment USA.

Thanks.
