Woodruff's "scratch" battery

Do you give any credence to W.E. Woodruff's tale, in "With the Light Guns," pp. 99-102, of a makeshift two-gun battery organized for the city's defense? He claims that a number of citizens, former militia members, and at least one officer on leave assisted in manning a Napoleon and a bronze 24 pound howitzer, serving on the south side of the river. That might be one unit to include.

I'm not aware of any other "home guard" types.

To Doyle's point, Pinnell says his unit left Fort Pleasant on July 27 and made it to Little Rock on July 31.
