HI,
I am curious is anyone knows about the nickname of one of the Missouri units, involved in Battle of Helena.

The unit is question is the 11th (8th Burns) Missouri Infantry Regiment. My GG Grandfather was a private in this unit, which I recently found the information for, in the National Archives.

When he was still alive, he had mentioned to my mother that he was in the Civil War, and that he was in the "Monticello Grays". This is the name he knew his unit to be.

Has anyone else heard of this nickname for the 11th Missouri?

Any info would be appreciated.
