Re: Maj.(Lt. Col.?) E. L. Black, 23rd Ark. Inf.

During the reorganization at Saltillo, Mississippi, on September 10, 1862, the 12th, 14th and 23rd Arkansas Regiments were field-consolidated, and a new slate of officers was elected

Bryan,
You've previously tried to explain this consolidation to me. I'm so dense that I still am unable to reconcile how the 12th Arkansas can be involved in such a consolidation on this date, since it was not yet released from prison.

Also, considering the leadership problems and anemic strength of the 14th Arkansas, do you know why they were removed from this consolidation [of only 2-3 weeks] before the Corinth debacle?

Gosh, I'm glad you're back so that I can continue with my dumb questions.
