Lynn, the only man who fits is a Pvt. J. B. Smith, who enlisted in Co. D, 38th Arkansas Infantry, at Smithville, Arkansas, on July 12, 1862. This company was recruited in Lawrence and Randolph counties.

I had a whole bunch of ancestors in Company G, so I've researched that company pretty thoroughly; but I haven't done much with Company D, other than transcribe the muster rolls. So I don't know much else about this J. B. Smith.
