Somewhere in the OR's I read a Union report about the deserters from P.G. that went over to the Union side. I don't remember the exact details, but the general gist of the officers report revolved around the fact that several of the deserters were hanging around long enough to be issued new arms, clothing, equipment,etc and then disappearing with said new equipment and whatever else they could steal. The officer who wrote the report was more or less saying "I told you this was going to happen" to who ever the addressee was.

I will look back when I have time and see if I can find this report. I think I bookmarked it, but am not sure.
