Stephen, I remember our correspondence on Tumlinson's unattached cavalry company. As I recall, Capt. Wiley Tumlinson was mortally wounded at Prairie Grove (or in one of the cavalry skirmishes preceding the battle) and carried by his men down to Franklin County, where he died of his wounds.
His company was dismounted and transferred to Cocke's Regiment Arkansas Infantry -- another "hard-luck" outfit that had its own unique set of problems. We could start a whole other very interesting thread on Cocke's regiment.
