Len, the only negative things I've ever read about Cleburne were those written by officers who were jealous of his reputation among the common soldiers of the Army of Tennessee, and some of his superiors who felt threatened by his fame.
Cleburne was such a modest, unassuming man, and so selflessly devoted to his men and the Cause, that I can't imagine any Confederate officer perceiving him as a threat. Officers like Cleburne don't come along very often, but they do seem to come along at the right time and in the right place. His death on the field at Franklin was one of the nails in the Confederacy's coffin.
