David, you're absolutely right about the feelings of the Arkansas troops towards Van Dorn. Especially bitter were the mounted regiments, who were dismounted by order of General Van Dorn, and forced to serve as infantry.

How about posting something about the 8th Arkansas from time to time? The 8th Arkansas is a particular favorite of mine, and we get inquiries about it on the board. But I've spent most of my time researching the lesser known regiments, and haven't had the time to research the 8th Arkansas the way I'd like.
