Don't forget that Griffith didn't take command of the consolidated regiment until later though. Many of its famous exploits were conducted under COL John L. Logan of the 11th. He did not leave the regiment until much later and many of the famous raids (Bayou Sara, Clinton, Jackson etc etc) in Miss and La were under his command. I don't have the exact date but it would have been in late 1863 or early 64 when Logan came back to Arkansas and became active as a cavalry commander.
