You're right, there is a post-war picture of the 3rd Iowa Cavalry in the Arkansas "Portraits of Conflict" book. It's an undated reunion shot. Unfortunately, none of the men are identified. The photo is credited to the Iowa State Historical Society. I would also suggest that the gentleman check with the U.S. Army Military History Institute at Carlisle Barracks.
