An excellent point. Marmaduke though was held in high regard by Hindman due to their service together at Shilo. Hindman did indeed want to dismount Hays' regiment who refused to dismount though he was killed the same day the Regiment came into existance. Jackman says of the same thing with Coffee and Hindman relented, however Hindman did not take kindly to Coffee refusing to be in Confederate Service or the kind of man apparently Coffee was. Jackman, as level headed as they came in my estimation, sometimes painted matters in the same light as Edwards. You have to dance carefully with him as well as Alonzo Slayback who is another man a researcher has to be careful with.
