When Judah Benjamin ordered Col Borland to turn over his command to next ranking party after the General Order of 29 Nov 1861 was issued, I assume that to be Lt Danley also, thus he became officer in charge (?) of Upper Arkansas of Western Dept, CSA, until Gen Van Dorn was placed in charge, 15 Jan 1862.
