I agree Alan. Richard Taylor is probably tops for Confed. and Curtis the best Federal general officer in the Trans-Mississippi. There were a lot of generals whose performance was less than stellar. In fact Albert Castel referred to the Confederate Trans-Mississippi Dept as the "junkyard of the Confederacy" with regard to the number of poor general officers that were transferred to this area.
