MANN bushwacker or soldier?

Hey YaŽll:
Southron boy currently working in the Mountains of Colombia, South America, and chasing my tail with a family ledgend.
My Great Grandfather, William Montgomery Mann, served in Co E, 5th Ark. Inf. CSA..The family lived in Clay County and some in the "boot heel of Missouri". I am trying to find two things and perhaps there is some record:

1. Any record of Sara Elizabeth Allen - Mann, being killed in a Federal raid into Clay County, Sometime Post Sep 1862.

2. Any record of a Confederate Soldier/"bushwacker" named Sanford (Sant) Marion Mann, from the same general area? He would have been Great Grandfaters brother, or my Great Uncle. Family ledgend says he was a great big, jolly old Santa Claus looking man, who loved to gather the Children around him and spin tales of the war. When my Great Grandfather would find out, he would storm over to SantŽs house, chase the children off with the words, "Sant, you know you were nothing but a bushwhacker!" What is the truth?
Who or what was he really?

Anything would be of help, no matter how little, as you can only imagine, from here I can get NOTHING!

Bob
