Okay, then that supports the probability that they returned to service with Hawthorn's regiment. If they had not, they would have been considered deserters and thereby not eligible for a Confederate pension.

There are no complete service records of men who served in Arkansas regiments in the Trans-Mississippi Department, due to the fact that, in most cases, there are no surviving muster rolls after March 1, 1864. The only way to piece together their records for the last year of the war is to rely on pension records, prisoner-of-war records, a few hospital records, and postwar accounts -- not an ideal situation, but it's the only game in town.
