David Owen Dodd, who was hanged as a spy in 1864, briefly attended classes there, however, he never served in a military capacity officially except as a telegraph operator in Louisiana and then helping his father who was sutler to the 3rd Ark Cav and then Phifer's brigade down in Mississippi.
