Bryan, Linda, there was only on Gillum's Regt., the one Henry Gillum raised that you've already identified. He was a New Orleanser and his regt was raised in East LA and Southern MS. It is possible Kirk was one of many Arkansasians drifting around this area (flotsam from the Port Hudson garrison?) who joined Gillum's unit, then was detailed (for some reason) to the Trans-MS. Or else went on leave in AR, couldn't recross the MS River, then got a govt job in TX.
