John Roark and Christopher Columbus Roark

According to oral family history, my GGG grandfather and his oldest son both fought and died in the Civil War. John Roark was born in TN in 1816 and died some time before 1870. He married Phoebe Mainard (Maynard) about 1840. They had 11 children. The youngest son, Jefferson (John) Davis Roark, was born in 1861. This is what leads me to believe they fought for the South.

John's oldest son was Christopher Columbus Roark. He was born in TN in 1843.

Sometime between 1849 and 1850, the family moved from TN to AR. I'm not sure if they would have fought with a company in AR or TN.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Eva
