Arkansans in TX Artillery

Forty-two soldiers of the 26th Arkansas Infantry transferred to the 9th Texas Artillery (Daniel’s) in May and June 1862. Did these men ever return to the 26th?

This question arose when I noted that some of these soldier’s gravestones held the inscription: “Company F, 26th Arkansas Infantry.” I thought it strange that an infantry regiment would be inscribed when only a month was spent in that unit before going to Daniel’s Battery. This led to the assumption that many did return to their infantry regiment, but I cannot find proof. I appreciate any clarification and/or opinions.
