That is interesting. It just goes to show that when you are dealing in the study of Arkansas History especially during this war, there is no such thing as a "General Impression". That is to say that we need to broaden our scope in looking at events, because the situation changed so radically sometimes within a very short period of time like a couple of weeks or months.

So 'Blanket evaluations' of this period are almost always going to have exceptions. For example it would seem that the rails of LR to Deval's Bluff section were taken up at some time in 1863 to provide armor for the CSS Ponchartrain. Arkansas' only Ironclad that never sailed as such.
