The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Cherokee Mounted Volunteers
In Response To: Cherokee Mounted Volunteers ()

Beverly,

The state of Kansas did not pay pensions to Confederate veterans, so the only possibility for this man would be the state of Arkansas. We have historians here on the message board who can check the Arkansas Confederate Pension Index and tell you if he or his wife/widow applied for and received a pension.

We offer a service through the message boards that provides Compiled Military Service Records and Pension Application Files, as well as specialized research, for our visitors. You will be assigned a professional researcher/historian, who can answer your questions and you only pay for the services provided. You can reach this service by clicking on the link below or on the large ad at the top-middle of this page.

You can also obtain these files from the Arkansas Historical Commission at http://www.ark-ives.com/research/materials/military_records.asp . They have a searchable index online; however, it has not reached the "W's" yet.

With best regards,

Jim Martin
