as per Art's posting, I think perhaps Tom is thinking of the 10th Ark. Infantry being surrendered at Port Hudson?

To my knowledge, the 11th/17th Ark. Infantry was more or less continously active under John L. Logan and Wirt Adams before, during, and after the fall of Port Hudson (see URL below).
