5th Ark Infantry - Mitchell A Grooms

I am trying to gather some information on my great great grandfather Mitchell A Grooms. He was wounded and lost an arm while in the Confederate service and it is believed that he was discharged before the war was over. His grave stone indicates that he served in Company B, 5th Arkansas Regiment and can be seen at http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ar/county/greene/groomsmitchella.htm

The Arkansas Civil War Veteran Memorial web site at http://members.tripod.com/~egerdes/index.html

GROOMS, Mitchell A. - Co. B, 5th Ark Inf, CSA; born 13 Oct 1841; died 27 Mar 1885; buried at Pruitt's Chapel Cemetery, Paragould, Greene Co., AR

Indicates that he served, but does not indicate that he was wounded.

There is also some information about him in a book called "Drummer Boy of the Ozarks" page 15, 16, 17. This book was written in the 1890 by W. S. Kerby. A copy of this book can be found at the Central Arkansas Main Library.

There is also indication that his wife Elizabeth Grooms received a pension in 1916,

1918 and 1923.

Any information on how I could locate additional information on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
