Doyle: I believe you are mistaken. According to his memoirs, Thompson's men were present when paroled at both Wittsburg and Jacksonport. He tells of the issuing of rations to the troops, signing paroles, and mustering the men out. He indicates that 6000 were present at Jacksonport alone.

If you have not read Thompson's memoirs you need to do so. It is a fine read and full of interesting information about Missouri and Arkansas. I believe that it is currently available in paperback on Amazon.com.
