The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

I went back and checked. Great grandpa Wm. Morris was supposedly born in Arkansas.
More than likely he was in central Arkansas when the Civil War began as he belonged to a militia group called the Clear Lake Guards. (Clear Lake is on the western side of present day Lonoke County.)
Do you happen to know who they went to full service with? Could he have been one of those who joined up with the Union?
I am thinking there is some truth in all of this but it appears at this time to be confusing.
This is an example of why people need to teach their kids the history of the family so that in such a situation as this, it can be found if that person desires to know.
Thanks-
Linda
