Forgot to mention that the 15th Missouri Cavalry (Confederate) was commanded by the renowned (or notorious, depending on your perspective) partisan ranger (or guerrilla, again depending on your perspective), Col. Timothy Reves, and was part of McCray's Brigade, in Fagan's Division.

Tim Reves was very effective in harrassing the U.S. forces in northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, and Yankee invective against such partisan rangers increased in direct proportion to their success. Reves was especially hated by the Yankees.
