Sorry, I have to chime in here. Sometimes my Indian blood cries out. I have done limited study of the Sioux uprising of 1862 and the wars on the Plains were a brutal things, but from much of my past reading on white and Indian conflicts, many times Native-American brutality was "learned" behavior (i.e., scalping) or retaliation for similar atrocities committed on their people. I believe your earlier statement that "neither side's skirts are clean" applies equally well to the Sioux uprising.
