Jim, no offense intended, but that's really beside the point of my post. The point is that the shooting and hanging of guerrillas, prisoners and civilians by Northern and Southern sympathizers was a far cry from the inhuman savagery displayed by the Sioux in the 1862 uprising.

But your point is well taken, that the Indians also received brutal treatment at the hands of whites, to the extent that arguably might rise to a charge of genocide.
