Attn: Ken Byrd -- Camp Reed

Hey, Ken. I've found a little clue regarding the location of Camp Reed (associated with Newton's regiment). You and I have speculated that the camp was located where the Little Rock to Shreveport road crossed the Little Missouri River, south of Arkadelphia.

Take a look at the report of the Union spy I posted below. He reports leaving Arkadelphia, traveling south on the Shreveport road about 20 miles, where he stayed with a Captain Reed.

Nothing conclusive, but it's another little hint.
