Ken, that spy report is taken from the O.R.'s. I don't have the specific series, volume and page number in front of me, but I'll get it for you.

One thing to bear in mind is that the spy didn't have an odometer, so the distances he cites are estimates. He wrote that he traveled about 20 miles to Capt. Reed's location. Another 5 miles or so would put him at the Little Missouri River. I'm sure this is where Reed was located. There's an order from Newton (or to Newton, can't remember right off) sending his companies to guard various river crossings in his area of operations.

I'm really excited about this spy report, since it does hint, at least, that Capt. Reed's camp was on the Little Missouri River, or close by. I tried doing an O.R. search for "Reed" once, and the huge number of hits locked up my computer. So this report that mentions our Reed is one that eluded me until a day ago, when I was scrolling down, actually looking for something else.
