Thanks to all who participated in the Van Dorn Exodus “roundtable.” This was a very informative thread that clarified many points, and it helped me get a better idea of both political and military circumstances from that time before and after Van Dorn’s departure. I would have really been interested to read any post-war justification by Van Dorn himself, but Dr. Peters’ defense of his wife’s honor certainly prevented that from ever happening. Thanks again!
