Return toward Camden

“We passed through Shreveport of the 16th (April).”

“Crossed the Bodcaw on the 18th, and reached Calhoun, Arkansas on the 20th. On the 23rd, we made a faint (feint) move on Camden then fell back some 12 miles.”

“The Federal troops, after destroying most of their baggage train, evacuated Camden on the 26th. We immediately followed them entering Camden on the 27th. We crossed the Washita River on the 28th.”

After Jenkins’ Ferry

“May 14, we passed through Camden moving south. On the night of the 18th we camped in the vicinity of Minden, rested one day, then moved back north on the 20th.

May 20, countermarched and headed north from Minden reaching Hainesville the same day.”

This ends the information I have in my files from the Fry Diary. I regret that I did not have time to transcribe the complete record some thirty years ago when I first came across it. I will make every effort to contact those who possess the original.
