Bill, a sidenote regarding Charles H. Matlock, unrelated to Prairie Grove but it might be of interest.

On August 31, 1863, he was captured at his home in Woodruff County, accused of recruiting for the Confederate army, and was sent to Johnson’s Island, Ohio, where he died on December 9, 1864. A remark in the prison record: "Body sent to Memphis, Tennessee."
