Re: Captain Z.P. Alexander 1st Arkansas Mounted Ri

Hello.
My two cents for what it is worth and that is that Captain Alexander is probably buried in an unmarked grave as you
suggested.
Knowing how hard times were immediately following the Civil War, I can easily believe that.
I would like to suggest that someone who lives in that area
applies for a CSA marker if it can be done. If that cannot be handled that way, pass the hat and buy a marker placing it near his son for "in memory of."
My own gg grandfather, William R. Vaughan, was flat broke when he died in Little Rock in the 1870's having once been a fairly well to do man.
It was only 8 years ago that my long lost cousin from Texas applied for and got the nice CSA marker that now marks his grave. We had a wonderful dedication ceremony with a 21 gun salute and the whole works.
It would appear to me that Capt. Alexander who fell in battle is certainly worthy of much the same.
Linda
