In Powell Clayton's report of the Pine Bluff action he refers to Murphy's company as "state militia" but doesn't say what state. In the list of casualties (O.R. 22-1: p. 725) Murphy's company is identified as Missouri State Militia. I'd assumed that was a scriptographic error committed to print, but perhaps it's accurate.
