Barbara, it is verypossible that they were with the 11th. I have found numerous references in letters of men who were with a unit but had yet to join. One in the 1st Ark Inf especially comes to mind. These boys may have went off with the 11th and almost immediately men started coming down with measles just outside of Pine Bluff when they caught the steamer for Memphis. Immediately about 60 men were sent there. If these boys had not officially signed or due to their age were not yet allowed to sign up, it is very possible they were there. E. C is not on the first original muster roll from July 1861 made out in Benton, so it is very possible they were yet to be added. Probably will never find any written proof sometimes oral traditions are all we have.
