Thanks for your input, Joseph. I think you’re right. I thought that might be the reason, but further checking made me wonder. Mrs. Mayson and Mrs. Tucker might possibly have fit within the $20,000 criteria, but the one that made me curious was Ann E. Rives, widow, who only had a real estate value of $5,000 and a personal estate value of $2,500 (1860). She operated a boarding house in Napoleon. I was just curious to see if there were additional criteria out there.
