Yes, sir, and some states contributed an enormous number of men to the Union; Tennessee for example. Also, I guess you could count the western counties of Virginia. These counties provided a large number of volunteer companies to the Confederacy at the beginning of the war, but later seceded from Virginia and, as West Virginia, provided a strategically significant number of Union regiments. Not to mention the slave states of Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri.
