Yes indeed, they were all widows. The “conducting of business” requirement possibly explains why Ann E. Rives had to take the oath. Although her wealth fell below $20,000, she did operate a boarding house business in Napoleon. Since I have mentioned Napoleon, I wish our authors would consider doing a history on that town. It appears to have been a real rip-roaring river port.

Thanks so much for bringing out the discrepancy concerning John F. Braden. I hope you’ll post anything similar that you come across on that list.
