Jim and Lee,

The late Ed Gerdes and I divided up the roster transcriptions posted on his webpage -- he did half and I did half, and I did most of the historical narratives. Ed is the one who transcribed the 35th Arkansas. It would have been nice if the McCord webpage had attributed the roster to the memory of Edward Gerdes.

As far as my research is concerned, of course we all like to be recognized for our work, and I'm always proud when someone cites me as a source, but my primary interest is getting the records of our Arkansas soldiers out of hiding and into the public so their service and sacrifice can be recognized and honored, so I don't make a big deal out of people cutting and pasting my research. My biggest concern is people making erroneous editing changes to my rosters. I've put a lot of time and effort into checking and cross-checking the information to ensure its accuracy, and I've seen some examples where people have taken my research and tweaked it -- almost always resulting in misinformation.

Otherwise I'm not going to kick up a fuss. I figure I'll get my recognition when I go through the Pearly Gates and those old Reb soldiers shake my hand and tell me "Thanks."
