One mistake on my part above. If you try this, and use a tripod, you can't stitch the map pictures together because of the angle of the camera on the tripod. if you want to stitch maps or documents together once they are in the computer then the pics need to be taken "square on" to get all to line up exactly although a small doc wouldn't be as "picky" as a large one. I've even read where someone used digital cameras to take pics of the microfilm on the microfilm readers- could come in handy since many don't have print capability and the ones that do at an institution are sometimes broken or in use when you need them. I haven't tried this method however--yet!
