I have a letter saying that a Captain Rieff was killed in the October 25, 1863, battle at Pine Bluff as he was in the act of torching buildings to the west of the courthouse square, as well as several reports saying that a number of Confederates were burned to death in the ensuing fire. Does anyone have any comments/insights about either of these reports?
