"Two Confederate officers were killed in this battle, whom the Army could ill afford to lose -- Captain J. Fen. Rieff of Company F, Thompson's Arkansas Brigade, and Adjutant W. D. Biser, Greene's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry. Both acted and died bravely."
