Guy, Confederate companies were usually raised by county. In most cases, members of companies were residing in the county of origination, or an adjacent county, in 1860. With this in mind, try checking for Richard in the 1860 U.S. Census for the county (and adjacent counties) in which Company B originated.

There were two 1st Arkansas Infantry Regiments.

Company B of Fagan’s 1st AR came from Clark County. Company B of Cleburne’s 1st AR (later Josey’s 15th) came from Jefferson County.
