Thanks Bryan. I understand exactly what your saying. My hope is that somewhere there is a record of where these men are, weather it be from military files, from local newspaper accounts or family stories. Paul Rose was fairly close to home while he was sick so I'm hanging on the prayer that his family had adequete notification and the ability to travel the short distance to retreive his remains before being buried. He was an only son. I dont know what kind of relationship he and Silas had but it stands to reason that Silas would have done what he could to get him home if he was able.
I just dont want to give up until I have checked out all possible resources. I dont know how to go about checking old newspaper obits or how to check cemetery databases. Paul was the only Rose(that I know of)in this family line that served with the Confederacy while a handfull of his cousins all fought for the North so I think it would have been a major bit of news to ripple through the family. Possibly some of the details of his death have survived through the years and have been handed down from generation to generation of Rose decendants.
